This ring features a sterling silver replica of a real hand-carved shell cameo. The ring band has been modelled by hand in jewellery wax and casted in sterling silver.

This cameo depicts Psyche, the Greek goddess of soul and consort of Eros/ Cupid. In the Victorian era, Psyche, willing to risk death and to go, literally, to the end of the earth in order to be reunited with her beloved Cupid, epitomised the womanly virtues of devotion and constancy in love.

In cameo code, Psyche's main attributes are butterflies and butterfly wings. Here, she sports pair of wings on her head, leaving no ambiguity about her identity.
